The five-minute film has been viewed more than two million times since it was posted on the Chinese internet portal Sina on Monday and tens of thousands of micro-bloggers have weighed in on the gruesome scene.
The shaky footage shows locals gazing on from a rural hillside as a
fleet of police vehicles pulls up in a field below, their sirens
blazing.
A man is then hauled from one vehicle and led into a nearby stretch of farmland where he is photographed and forced to kneel.
Finally, the man keels over after appearing to receive a single shot
to the head from a handgun. A police photographer then appears to take
another photograph, this time of the victim’s corpse.
