Barely one day after an 8.2 magnitude earthquake struck Chile, killing six people, a 5.8 earthquake has rocked Panama. While writing this, the earthquake was downgraded from 6.2 magnitude by the U.S. Geological Services.

Reuters reports:
Panama's head of emergency services, Arturo Alvarado, said there were no reports of damage or injuries but that schools and homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution. A USGS tweet said it had received citizens' reports of light and moderate shaking.
No injuries were reported from the earthquake that rumbled 40 miles south of David, Panama at a depth of 6.2 miles.

According to a resident tip, the quake was felt all the way into the San Jose region of Costa Rica.

This appears to be the year for earthquakes and volcanoes, as a Peruvian volcano is rumbling to life today and these breaking news stories ride right on the heels of strange activity in Yellowstone Park.
