Putin’s Ukrainian Dilemma: Invade Ukraine Soon or Become the Obama of Eurasia

John Galt FLA
May 29, 2014

The news from the Ukraine tonight continues to defy reality with this Reuters story from May 14th and the events since the election yesterday:

Ukraine holds talks to end crisis, rebels not invited

Really? Does anyone involved in the talks sponsored by the SorosECBFedBoE pro-multinationalist corporatist movement would invite a bunch of Russian soldiers to discuss the future of uh, well, Russian people in the Eastern Ukraine? The problem they seek to address is not the crisis in the Ukraine, it’s bankster sponsored government, nor the crisis between the East and West; the problem is whether nationalism or globalism will reign supreme for the next two to four decades. That resolution rests in the hands of a former(?) KGB Colonel who might in fact destroy his own reputation with impotence instead of direct action.

The numerous scenarios about a Russian invasion of the Eastern Ukraine have been painted on this website and thousands of others and while Russian speaking citizens continue to die, the inaction by Putin either indicates a calculated risk that he can seize the regions he desires with little if any military action or that the resolve of the West is so poor they will eventually give up in the face of economic warfare to be conducted from Moscow.

China Threatens Further Action Against U.S. Over Hacking Dispute

May 29, 2014

China said it will take further action against the U.S. for prosecuting five of its military officers for alleged hacking, saying it has evidence its companies have also been hacked.

Online attacks from a “specific country” have targeted Chinese companies, its military and important websites, Ministry of National Defense spokesman Geng Yansheng said. Geng didn’t specify the country in remarks posted on the ministry’s website today in response to a question about the indictment.

China will take further action depending on what happens with the U.S. prosecution of the five, who are accused of stealing commercial secrets, he said. The U.S. has still not given a clear explanation of its own cyber spying on foreign companies and governments revealed by former government contractor Edward Snowden, Geng said.

Geng’s remarks come after China’s government was said to be reviewing its reliance on servers fromInternational Business Machines Corp. (IBM), in an early sign of specific retaliation. Relations between the two countries are tense over a number of issues, including China’s pressing of territorial claims against U.S. allies in the region.

Military Source: ‘We’re Being Tweeted Into Combat’

May 28, 2014

NBC News is reporting that military officials are preparing for Special Operations to be deployed in Nigeria to rescue Christian girls who have been taken captive by radical Islamist terrorists.
What makes the report most disconcerting is that well placed officials are saying they’re being forced into a military strike based on the White House’s social media campaign:
According to two well-placed defense department sources, senior Special Operations commanders — those in charge of the Navy SEALs, Delta Force and the Ranger Regiment — have told their men to be ready, assuming that eventually “the hashtag will bring us out.”
“We’re being tweeted into combat,” said a military official who spoke to NBC News but asked not to be identified.
Despite the fact that White House officials have insisted there will be no military intervention against Boko Haram, current and former military officials, speaking under the condition of anonymity, said they believe the first lady’s #BringBackOurGirls Twitter picture is influencing military decisions:

Obama plans to end U.S. troop presence in Afghanistan by 2016

May 28, 2014

U.S. President Barack Obama on Tuesday outlined a plan to withdraw all but 9,800 American troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year and pull out the rest by the end of 2016, ending more than a decade of military engagement triggered by the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States.

The decision means that Obama will leave office in early 2017 having extricated the country from the longest war in U.S. history. He ended Washington’s combat presence in Iraq in 2011.

Obama’s White House Rose Garden announcement prompted criticism from Republicans that the hard-fought gains made against the Taliban could be lost in much the same way that sectarian violence returned to Iraq after the U.S. withdrawal.

Obama, who made a whirlwind visit to U.S. troops in Afghanistan over the weekend before American combat operations conclude at the end of 2014, appeared to anticipate concerns that he is abandoning Afghanistan. He said it is time for Afghans to secure their country.

Ukrainian government vows more military action against separatists

May 28, 2014

DONETSK, Ukraine — The Ukrainian government vowed to push ahead Wednesday with military operations against pro-Russian separatists in the embattled east of the country after a big show of strength routing rebels from this city’s international airport.

Petro Poroshenko, Ukraine’s president-elect, said the “anti-terrorist operation” against the rebels, whom he has likened to Somali pirates, “has finally really begun.” In an interview with Germany’s Bild newspaper, Poroshenko, 48, said he was in close contact with the Ukrainian interim government in Kiev.

Ukraine’s military on Tuesday used Soviet-era fighter jets and attack helicopters to pound rebels and retake Donetsk’s Sergei Prokofiev International Airport. The rebels, who said they suffered a heavy loss of life in the two-day operation, had seized the airport, the nation’s second-largest, in this eastern city on Monday, a day after Ukraine’s presidential and mayoral elections.

Poroshenko, one of Ukraine’s richest tycoons, convincingly won the May 25 presidential election in the first round. He said after his victory that he wants to pursue talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, although he accused Russia of instigating the violence in the east.

Bilderberg at 60: inside the world’s most secretive conference

Charlie Skelton
London Guardian
May 29, 2014

It’s been a week of celebrations for Henry Kissinger. On Tuesday he turned 91, on Wednesday he broke his personal best in the 400m hurdles, and on Thursday in Copenhagen, he’ll be clinking champagne flutes with the secretary general of Nato and the queen of Spain, as they celebrate 60 glorious years of Bilderberg. I just hope George Osborne remembered to pack a party hat.

Thursday is the opening day of the influential three-day summit and it’s also the 60th anniversary of the Bilderberg Group’s first meeting, which took place in Holland on 29 May 1954. So this year’s event is a red-letter occasion, and the official participant list shows that the 2014 conference is a peculiarly high-powered affair.

The chancellor, at his seventh Bilderberg, is spending the next three days deep in conference with the heads of MI6, Nato, the International Monetary Fund, HSBC, Shell, BP and Goldman Sachs International, along with dozens of other chief executives, billionaires and high-ranking politicians from around Europe. This year also includes a visit from the supreme allied commander Europe, and a return of royalty – Queen Sofia of Spain and Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, the daughter of the Bilderberg founder Prince Bernhard.

Back in the 1950s, when Bernhard sent out the invitations, it was to discuss “a number of problems facing western civilization”. These days, the Bilderberg Group prefers to call them “megatrends”. The megatrends on this year’s agenda include: “What next for Europe?”, “Ukraine”, “Intelligence sharing” and “Does privacy exist?”

Is it the Bilderberg conference – or conspiracy?

London Independent
May 29, 2014

Conspiracy theorists may chuckle when they learn a debate entitled “Does Privacy Exist?” is to feature at this year’s Bilderberg conference, the notoriously secretive gathering of the world’s most powerful bankers, politicians and business people.

There may be a further shaking of heads when they discover one of the participants at the heavily fortified, five-star Marriott Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark, will be Keith Alexander, the former director of the National Security Agency (NSA), which was embarrassed by the mass-surveillance revelations leaked by Edward Snowden. In fairness to the Bilderberg, the organisers of this year’s conference – which starts on Thursday – have made efforts to be more transparent by publishing a list of all the prime ministers, chief executives and military chiefs in attendance, as well as the topics up for discussion.

Chancellor George Osborne and his Labour counterpart, Ed Balls, are among the hand-picked group of British politicians who will visit Copenhagen to hob-nob with the global elite behind closed doors.
Other guests from the political sphere include the former “Third Man” of New Labour, Lord Mandelson, the current International Development Secretary, Justine Greening, and the veteran American foreign policy expert, Henry Kissinger.

Inside the Ring: Directive outlines Obama’s policy to use the military against citizens

Bill Gertz
Washington Times
May 29, 2014

A 2010 Pentagon directive on military support to civilian authorities details what critics say is a troubling policy that envisions the Obama administration’s potential use of military force against Americans.

The directive contains noncontroversial provisions on support to civilian fire and emergency services, special events and the domestic use of the Army Corps of Engineers.

The troubling aspect of the directive outlines presidential authority for the use of military arms and forces, including unarmed drones, in operations against domestic unrest.

“This appears to be the latest step in the administration’s decision to use force within the United States against its citizens,” said a defense official opposed to the directive.

Directive No. 3025.18, “Defense Support of Civil Authorities,” was issued Dec. 29, 2010, and states that U.S. commanders “are provided emergency authority under this directive.”

U.S. Will Train Rebels to Counter CIA’s Al-Qaeda Terrorists in Syria

Shell game as U.S. continues bloody effort to unseat Syrian government

Kurt Nimmo
May 28, 2014

Earlier this year Jamal Maarouf, leader of the Syrian Revolutionary Front, admitted his “moderate” fighters conduct joint operations with Jabhat al-Nusra, the al-Qaeda proxy in Syria.

Maarouf told The Independent he was instructed by his U.S., Saudi and Qatari benefactors to work with al-Nusra terrorists who slaughter civilians and summarily execute Syrian soldiers.

Maarouf said if “the people who support us [U.S., Saudis, Qataris] tell us to send weapons to another group, we send them. They asked us a month ago to send weapons to Yabroud [in Syria] so we sent a lot of weapons there. When they asked us to do this, we do it.”

On Wednesday, The Wall Street Journal reported “Barack Obama will authorize US troops to train selected Syrian rebels, in order to counter the rising power of Al-Qaeda-linked extremists.”

“The current policy approach continues to be strengthening the moderate opposition, which offers an alternative to the brutal Assad regime and the more extremist elements within the opposition,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Psaki’s remark counts on the ignorance of the American people concerning the U.S. role in the effort to overthrow the al-Assad regime and replace it with something more amenable to the geostrategic objectives of the financial elite.

Democracy Comes To Syria, West Demands Democracy Come To Syria

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post

Although the Western media reports regarding the Presidential elections currently taking place in Syria attempt to portray the event as a “sham election” or nothing more than a political stunt, evidence coming out of the country seem to show quite the opposite.

Indeed, the elections, which include Assad as one candidate among three, are experiencing widespread participation from Syrians inside the country as well as those who have been displaced in the region and around the world.

For instance, in a recent article from the Associated Press, reports of Syrian refugees in Lebanon wishing to vote (mostly for Assad) were so ready to enter the polling booth in the Syrian embassy in Lebanon, that a virtual riot ensued, resulting in Lebanese security beating the voters with batons and sticks.

The Egyptian Elections - Sabahi and Sisi

United Front Against Austerity
Progressive Gazette
May 28, 2014
With a big election underway in Egypt, the UFAA supports Hamdeen Sabahi, the Nasserist candidate who is trailing incumbent General Sisi 9 to 1.

That said, Sisi is not so bad, despite his image in the western media as a brutal "strongman".

As this article details, both candidates have big plans for infrastructure and economic development, though they lack clear plans for how to finance these projects.

Sabahi seems more focused on building Egypt's industrial and agricultural capabilities, whereas Sisi has been criticized for focusing too heavily on tourism. Infrastructure and self-sufficiency, especially in agriculture is quite necessary – Egypt, with 80 million people, used to be a breadbasket, but is now the world's #1 importer of grain, and its land is being desertified by "market" pressures.

While Egypt has significant oil resources and still has some industrial power in the areas of textiles, steel, chemicals and autos, it would do well to re-commit to the path of Nasserism, and to be a force of development in the Middle East and Africa.

Both candidates seem essentially committed to this path, and we wish them well in the fight to put Egypt back on the path of national independence, and out of the grasp of the IMF and NATO.

Dust In The Wind: Dust Bowl Conditions Have Returned To Kansas, Oklahoma And North Texas

Michael Snyder
Economic Collapse
May 28, 2014

Dust BowlIn early 1978, a song entitled “Dust in the Wind” by a rock band known as Kansas shot up the Billboard charts.  When Kerry Livgren penned those now famous lyrics, he probably never imagined that Dust Bowl conditions would return to his home state just a few short decades later.  Sadly, that is precisely what is happening.  When American explorers first traveled through north Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas, they referred to it as “the Great American Desert” and they doubted that anyone would ever be able to farm it.  But as history has shown, when that area gets plenty of precipitation the farming is actually quite good.  Unfortunately, the region is now in the midst of a devastating multi-year drought which never seems to end.  Right now, 56 percent of Texas, 64 percent of Oklahoma and 80 percentof Kansas are experiencing “severe drought”, and the long range forecast for this upcoming summer is not good.  In fact, some areas in the region are already drier than they were during the worst times of the 1930s.  And the relentless high winds that are plaguing that area of the country are kicking up some hellacious dust storms.  For example, some parts of Kansas experienced a two day dust storm last month.  And Lubbock, Texas was hit be a three day dust storm last month.  We are witnessing things that we have not seen since the depths of the Dust Bowl days, and unless the region starts getting a serious amount of rain, things are going to get a whole lot worse before they get any better.

Over the past two months, very high winds and bone dry conditions have made the lives of ordinary farmers in the state of Kansas extraordinarily difficult.  Just check out the following excerpt from a recent article posted on
The dust has settled, but for how long no one can be sure. At any moment, the winds may blow, moving the topsoil — soil that took Mother Nature generations to craft — even farther from its origin.
One farmer reckons that precious topsoil, native to his farm in Kearny County, Kansas, now sits in a field at least 200 miles away, blown there by the relentless winds of March and April 2014.
Affecting counties in western Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, and eastern Colorado, it was reminiscent of what folks in the same region faced 80 years ago.
“There were several days we couldn’t see 100 yards in front of us,” says Tom Hauser, a farmer near Ulysses, Kansas. “We didn’t know where the dust was coming from. It was moving in here from somewhere else, just like it did back in the 1930s.
When heavy winds blow day after day but there is no rain, it creates ideal conditions for dust storms.  According to the same article that I just mentioned, the average wind speed in the little community of Syracuse, Kansas has been over 50 miles an hour so far this year…

Since the beginning of 2014, the average maximum daily wind speed in Syracuse, Kansas, is 50.6 miles per hour, according to the Kansas State University Weather Data Library. In that same time, Syracuse has received just 1 inch of total precipitation.

Three Chinese Nuclear Missile Submarines Photographed in South China Sea

China has deployed three nuclear-armed ballistic missile submarines to a naval base in the South China Sea, according to a recent photo of the vessels that appeared on the Internet.

The three Type 094 missile submarines were photographed at the Yalong Bay naval base on Hainan Island, located at the northern end of the South China Sea.

The submarines appear to be part of China’s plan to begin the first regular sea patrols of nuclear missile submarines.

Adm. Samuel Locklear, commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, voiced concerns about Chinese missile submarines in testimony to the House Armed Services Committee in March.

Germany’s representative to EU Parliament is son of Nazi, once called Hitler ‘a great man’

May 27, 2014

repost-us-image-13819417Udo Voigt, the first member of Germany’s far-right anti-immigrant party to enter the European Parliament, has faced legal action in the past with comments such as Hitler was “a great man”.

The son of a Nazi SA assault division member, Voigt, 62, was the chief candidate for the extremist National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD), which scored one percent in the German vote for the EU-wide election Sunday.

Three years after being found guilty in 2004 of promoting Nazism after he called Hitler “a great man”, Voigt questioned the number of Holocaust deaths and demanded the return of German land lost after World War II.

He also received a four-month suspended jail sentence for inciting violence after calling in a 1998 campaign speech for voters to engage in “armed combat”.

Big Biotech Seeks to Rule EU

Just on the heels of France banning all GMO cultivation, big biotech companies like Monsanto and Syngenta have been working to permeate and rise above EU government with what sounds like a corporate tribunal.

DuPont and Dow Chemical are poised to crash the EU with their co-created genetically modified 1507 Pioneer corn as well.

A corporatocracy didn't just occur out the blue, however. It's potentially being handed to biotech by the European Environmental Ministers with a law that sounds like a national ban (but actually isn't.)

Get this: according to Stop the Crop, the new "proposal gives biotech companies the power to decide whether a national ban is permitted or not." Gee, which way will biotech decide?

The Role of NATO and the EU on Brzezinski's Grand Chessboard

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post

On the first of May, 2014, Tony Cartalucci of Land Destroyer wrote an article entitled “Ukrainian Crisis Was Always About Containing Russia,” where he argued that “NATO's continued existence is hegemonic in nature - its meddling in Ukraine an act of war against Russia.”

In addition, Cartalucci also wrote that “what we have witnessed over the past several months is not ‘Russian aggression,’ but the premeditated destabilization and overthrow of the elected government of Ukraine, and a resulting, and continuously escalating confrontation with Russia as Moscow reacts to the reappearance of Nazis along its borders, backed by NATO and the EU.”

Cartalucci also discussed the importance of the expansion of NATO, particularly in the context of Ukrainian membership into the organization as a method of expanding the Anglo-European empire to the doorstep of Russia on yet another front.

Militarized Police Occupy Myrtle Beach Bike Week

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post

For residents of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Memorial Day Bike Week, (aka “Black Bike Week”), has long been synonymous with vastly increased crime, violence, and destruction of property. Likewise, the event attracts a high number of police that set up shop to detain and harass attendees with roadblocks and other traditional hallmarks of a police state.

Despite the city’s dependence on tourism, most residents and business owners generally dread the event year after year. Between the police and the crime, “Black Bike Week” is a great reason to get out of town if you live in Myrtle Beach.

Yet, while nonsensical violence has come to be expected at the rally year after year, the spate of shootings that occurred during this past event, Memorial Day Weekend 2014, has made national headlines. With three people being killed at a hotel early on, new reports surrounding the shootings were barely off the presses before another shooting took place, injuring two people at a Myrtle Beach resort.

Yet the real story is not so much the shootings (although anti-gun fanatics have predictably latched on to them) or even the investigative response of law enforcement. Instead, the story might be the militarized presence of police stationed in Myrtle Beach which should remove all doubt that civilian policing has been turned into military occupation.

After The March Against Monsanto, Momentum Favors The People

Jefferey Jaxen
Activist Post

It is clear that we have just witnessed the largest single worldwide protest against a company and their products. What is also clear is the major public disgust for anything bearing the words 'GMO'. Monsanto's only refuge lies in massively funded mouthpieces in the form of news clips and certain public figures, combined with a legal stranglehold on scientific research and medical inquiries. Yet in the age of information, their propaganda is laughable. Meanwhile the townspeople gather, having replaced their torches and pitchforks with signs and banners. We see this time the battle being fought from a place of higher consciousness. Our weapons of choice are the devastating methods of non-compliance, civil disobedience, and free enterprise. It appears while the smoke is still clearing from what may be the final March Against Monsanto, momentum favors the people.

Tipping points are historically difficult to pinpoint or predict. They often manifest in the form of some event or consciousness action that ignites the minds of the public in a “now I can see” moment. During that exact second, and no sooner, a mass movement locks into a single idea that once cemented in stone, will never die. We are at such a point. The once obscured battle lines in the sand have now been illuminated with neon signs, doused with gasoline, and set ablaze in our collective DNA. Into the future we march knowing only one thing clearly, genetically modified food will not be a part of it.

Government Plan Would Transform Israel Into The World’s First Cashless Society

Israeli CoinsMichael Snyder
American Dream
May 27, 2014

Will Israel be the first cashless society on the entire planet?  A committee chaired by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief of staff has come up with a three phase plan to “all but do away with cash transactions in Israel”.  Individuals and businesses would still be permitted to conduct cash transactions in small amounts (at least initially), but the eventual goal is to force Israeli citizens to conduct as much business as possible using electronic forms of payment.  In fact, it has been reported that Israeli officials believe that “cash is bad” because it fuels the underground economy and allows people to avoid paying taxes.  It is hoped that requiring most transactions to be conducted in cash will reduce crime and help balance the national budget.  And once 98 or 99 percent of all transactions are cashless, it will not be difficult for the Israeli government (or any other government) to go the rest of the way and ban cash transactions altogether.  But is a cashless society actually desirable?  This is a question that people all over the world will have to start asking as governments increasingly restrict the use of cash.

Back in September, it was announced that the Israeli government had formed a committee to “examine ways to eliminate cash from the Israeli economy”
The government on Tuesday authorized establishment of a committee that will examine ways to eliminate cash from the Israeli economy – the better to prevent citizens from cheating on their taxes. The committee will be chaired by Harel Locker, director of the Prime Minister’s Office.
This committee had the full backing of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and some of the goals of the committee included finding ways to increase tax revenue and prevent money laundering
Officials in the Prime Minister’s Office declared that “around the world, it is recognized that cash is a key element of the illegal economy and money laundering. It allows a wide gap between reported and actual incomes, with the corresponding effect on tax revenues.” By eliminating cash, the PMO said, “it will be possible to expand the tax base, and prevent money laundering.” The committee will study the issue from all its perspectives and make recommendations, the PMO said.

Suspended-animation trials to begin on humans

Michelle Starr
May 27, 2014

This month, the world’s first attempts at placing humans in suspended animation using a new technique will take place at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — not for space travel, but to save lives.

The technique will initially be used on 10 patients whose wounds would otherwise be lethal in an attempt to buy the surgeons some time. It works, as suggested by science fiction, by cooling the body — but not by applying an external temperature change.

Instead, a team of surgeons will remove all of the patient’s blood, replacing it with a cold saline solution. This will cool the body, slowing its functions to a halt and reducing the need for oxygen. Effects similar to this have been seen in accidents: Swedish Anna BĂ„genholm survived trapped under a layer of ice in freezing water for 80 minutes in a skiing accident; Japanese Mitsutaka Uchikoshi survived 24 days without food or water by entering a state of hypothermic hibernation.

“We are suspending life, but we don’t like to call it suspended animation because it sounds like science fiction,” Doctor Samuel Tisherman, the surgeon who will lead the trial, told New Scientist. “So we call it emergency preservation and resuscitation.”

Up to 100 killed in Kiev military op, Donetsk E. Ukraine – anti-govt forces

May 27, 2014

More than 50 self-defense fighters and as many civilians have been killed since Ukrainian troops stepped up their offensive in the region on Monday, according to the PM of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Aleksandr Boroday.

“We’ve lost more than 50 self-defense fighters,” Boroday said, as cited by RIA Novosti. “Many of the casualties are a result of two Kamaz trucks having been shelled by the Ukrainian army. The trucks were driving the wounded from the battlefield near the airport. Around 15 people died there.”
Boroday spoke to journalists next to a morgue in Donestk where identification of the bodies is under way.

“Two of our Kamaz trucks were fired at from the air and from an ambush on the ground. Shooting the wounded runs contrary to all international conventions,” Boroday added.

He said the significant number of casualties could be explained by extensive use of air force by the Ukrainian military on Monday.

Chairman of the Donetsk People’s Republic Supreme council, Denis Pushilin, also estimated that around 100 people might have been killed by Ukrainian troops.

It’s still “impossible to pick up all of the dead bodies as snipers are shooting at anyone who tries to come near them,” Pushilin said.

Donetsk City Council, however, puts the number of casualties at 40, with the official statement released by its press office saying that “two civilians and 38 fighters died.”

New Ukraine president Petro Poroshenko vows to stop war

London Guardian
May 26, 2014

Ukraine’s new president, Petro Poroshenko, has vowed to make his first goal in office to stop the war in the east of his country.

The pro-European businessman won the presidential election with 54% of the vote, according to early results on Sunday, clearing the 50% threshold to win outright without a second round. The former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko was trailing far behind, with about 13%.

In an impromptu victory speech after an official exit poll showed his convincing first-round win, Poroshenko praised the record turnout and reiterated the pledge that his first official trip would be to conflict-riven eastern Ukraine. He promised an amnesty to pro-Russian rebels who turned in their weapons, but said those who had killed people in the region were terrorists who deserved no quarter.
“Today we can definitely say all of Ukraine has voted, this is a national vote,” Poroshenko said. “The first steps that we will take at the beginning of our presidential term should be focused on stopping the war, to put an end to this chaos and bring peace to a united Ukraine.”

Thai king endorses army chief as new leader

Thailand’s king has endorsed the army chief who seized power in a coup last week, amid widespread international criticism and increasing detention of those considered to be opposed to the takeover.
General Prayuth Chan-ocha told journalists on Monday morning that the much revered King Bhumibol Adulyadej, 86, had officially backed him as the leader of the military council now running the country.

Prayuth seized power on Thursday after six months of political in-fighting between the now-deposed government and its critics, who had taken to the streets and besieged government buildings in an effort to oust it. At least 28 people were killed and more than 700 injured in sometimes violent clashes after anti-government protests began in November.

Vowing to restore order across Thailand, Prayuth said he would have no choice but to use violence if anti-coup demonstrators, who over the past four days have taken to the streets in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya, continued to protest.

China And Russia Hold Massive Joint Naval Drill: This Is What It Looked Like Russia%20China%20drill%2012 0
A month ago, when the fate of the historic (and now concluded) gas deal between Russia and China was still unknown we wrote that “Isolated Russia Makes Friends: To Hold Military Drill With China“, a drill titled “Maritime Cooperation-2014″, and which, coincidentally, is taking place in the northern part (ahem Japan and Taiwan) of the East China Sea, just as Russia is conducting another massive airforce drill along its border with Ukraine on the weekend of Ukraine’s presidential election.

As part of the drill, which is taking place between May 20 and 26, the Chinese and Russian naval vessels conducted maneuvers in the exercise area covering such missions as joint escort, joint rescue the hijacked ship, a joint verification of identification and joint air, sea assault on joint exercises and other subjects.

Here are some snapshots of what has taken place so far.

Russia, China Veto UN Security Council Resolution on Syria

As was expected by most observers familiar with the geopolitical alignments surrounding the Syrian crisis, both Russia and China vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution on Thursday that would have empowered the International Criminal Court to “investigate and prosecute war crimes” in Syria.

The resolution was sponsored by France and was supported by the United States as well as a number of other Western nations. The measure received 13 “yes” votes from the Security Council, which is made up of 15 nations, the only “no” votes coming from Russia and China.

This vote marks the fourth time that Russian and Chinese veto power has been utilized to prevent UN and Western meddling into the affairs of the Syrian people.

Thailand's "Operation Valkyrie"

May 21, 2014
In 1944 a daring assassination attempt was made on Germany's Adolf Hitler. The plan was hatched not by Allied commanders, but amongst the ranks of the Germany army itself. In the immediate wake of the planned assassination, the Germany army was to take over cities across the country, arrest the Nazi leadership and disarm the various militant wings it assembled to protect its political machine.

The order to be distributed upon Hitler's assassination concluded by stating:

Any opposition against the military power of enforcement is to be broken ruthlessly. In this hour of highest danger for the Fatherland, unity of the Wehrmacht and the maintenance of full discipline is the uppermost requirement.

That is why I make it the duty of all commanders of the army, the navy, and the air force to support the holders of executive power to carry out their difficult task with all means at their disposal and to guarantee the compliance of their directives by the subordinate sections. The German soldier stands before a historical task. It will depend on his energy and attitude whether Germany will be saved.
Ultimately the operation was foiled and its conspirators executed for treason. In hindsight it is clear that such an operation would have stood a better chance of success if implemented before the Nazi Party gained such sweeping and deeply rooted power - a lesson to be learned by all students of history and all who oppose the accumulation and abuse of unwarranted influence.

Did Two Oregon Counties Just Ban GMO Crops?

Heather Callaghan
Activist Post

Six giant agribusinesses sought to stomp out similar measures in two neighboring Oregon counties that would effectively ban genetically modified crop cultivation.

Despite Big Biotech shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars to influence the two small counties, residents voted for an all out GMO crop ban in Tuesday's election.

Monsanto, Bayer CropScience, BASF Plant Science, Dow Agro Sciences, DuPont Pioneer and Syngenta Crop Protection contributed at least $455,000 towards a campaign to try to sway county residents to abandon the ban.

Russia is taking Prince Charles’s Putin and Hitler comment ‘very seriously’

London Independent
May 22, 2014

Russia is taking comments reportedly made by the Prince of Wales where he compared the Russian president Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler “very seriously”, a source has warned.

Russia’s deputy ambassador is expected to meet a senior Foreign Office official later today to clarify if the comments on the Ukraine crisis allegedly made during a private conversation with a member of the public during a royal tour of Canada amounted to an “official position”.

Prince Charles faced widespread criticismand even calls to abdicate yesterday over the remark “and now Putin is doing just about the same as Hitler” which he made when speaking with museum volunteer Marienne Ferguson.

The alleged comments follow Russia’s annexation of Crimea from Ukraine, a move that was widely condemned by the West, who declared a referendum on absorbing the Black Sea peninsula illegitimate and illegal.

US tests cornerstone of European antimissile shield

May 22, 2014

Image from
The US has successfully test-fired Aegis Ashore, the land-based version of the naval antiballistic missile system, which is to be deployed in Eastern Europe starting next year despite Moscow’s objections.

The US Missile Defense Agency and the Navy have for the first time test-fired the land-based version of Aegis BMD on Tuesday, with engineers from Lockheed Martin, producer of the system, participating in the test. A Standard Missile 3 (SM-3) Block IB was fired from an installation on Kauai, Hawaii, and successfully hit a simulated target. The test was aimed at verifying safe launch and fly-out of the missile from the launch facility.

The US plans to conduct a test with a real target next year before a scheduled deployment of Aegis Ashore in Romania. A second similar system is to be deployed in Poland in 2018.

The systems are meant to intercept ballistic and cruise missiles mid-course. The US insists they are needed to protect America’s Eastern European allies from possible missile attack by North Korea and Iran, but Russia is certain that they are aimed at weakening its nuclear deterrence capability.

“We had a very successful flight test,” Brendan Scanlon, Lockheed Martin’s director of Aegis Ashore programs, told reporters Wednesday morning during a phone conference. “That is a major milestone for us.”

After Obama/UN “Liberation,” Libya Collapsing Into Civil War

Alex Newman

May 22, 2014

After the Obama administration “switched sides” in the terror war and lawlessly heeded the United Nations’ demand for an international war against former U.S. ally Moammar Gadhafi, Libya was supposed to be “liberated.” Instead, the nation began to collapse as various tribes, factions, and al-Qaeda-linked Islamist militias backed by Obama, NATO, and the UN battled each other in competing bids to rule over the ruins. The U.S. ambassador and several other Americans were ultimately killed in Benghazi amid the aftermath, too.

Now, the supposedly “liberated” country is on the verge of yet another civil war — just as this magazine and other non-establishment voices predicted years ago. In recent weeks, gun battles between various factions have been intensifying, prompting the Obama administration to increase the presence of U.S. forces in the region in case the chaos spirals out of control and Americans need to be evacuated. That appears to be a very likely scenario as the new regime, widely viewed as illegitimate, struggles to maintain even the semblance of a grip on power in the face of another growing rebellion.

The most dramatic recent turn of events involved the self-styled “Libyan National Army” invading Parliament this week. On Monday, a commander in the military police loyal to the uprising announced that the embattled legislative body was being “suspended.” A new 60-member “constituent assembly” is supposed to take its place, according to uprising leaders. “We announce to the world that the country can’t be a breeding ground or an incubator for terrorism,” Gen. Mokhtar Farnana announced on television on behalf of the rebel leaders.

Pentagon deploys another warship to Black Sea

May 21, 2014

The United States military confirmed on Tuesday that a guided missile cruiser is en route to the Black Sea as worries persist about the ongoing crisis between Ukraine and Russia.

“I can confirm the Vella Gulf, a Navy cruiser, will be going in to the Black Sea probably later this week,” Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby told the press on Tuesday, AFP reported.
Earlier this week, RT reported that a military source had told Russia’s Itar-Tass news agency that the US Department of Defense was expected to deploy a ship towards the Black Sea this week as part of what Moscow is considering a wide build-up of NATO forces in the region. Now the Pentagon has confirmed that the Vella Guld will replace the USS Taylor, a frigate that was stationed in the Black Sea until May 12 and preceded by the presence of the USS Donald Cook.

An US-authorized treaty, the Montreux Conventions of 1936, bars outside countries from keeping warships in the body of war for more than 21 days. Instead of retiring America’s naval presence from the region altogether, though, the DOD is again exchanging one ship for another in the midst of the growing tensions between Ukraine’s interim government and those wanting a stronger alliance with neighboring Russia.

As RT reported previously, the Vella Gulf is 172 meters long, 16 meters wide and can carry two multipurpose helicopters. It is also equipped with an Aegis air and ballistic missile defensive system, Tomahawk cruise missiles, antisubmarine missiles and surface-to-air missiles.

Russia And China Finally Sign Historic $400 Billion “Holy Grail” Gas Deal

Zero Hedge
May 21, 2014

There was some trepidation yesterday when after the first day of Putin’s visit to China the two countries did not announce the completion of the long-awaited “holy grail” gas dead, and fears that it may get scuttled over price negotiations. It wasn’t: moments ago Russia’s Gazprom and China’s CNPC announced, that after a decade of negotiations, the two nations signed a 30 year gas contract amounting to around $400 billion. And with the west doing all it can to alienate Russia and to force it into China’s embrace, this is merely the beginning of what will be a far closer commercial (and political) relationship between China and Russia.

So far there have been no public pricing details on the deal which according to Gazprom CEO Aleksey Miller is a “commercial secret”, and which is believed to involve Russia supplying 38 billion cubic metres of gas per year to China via a new eastern pipeline linking the countries.

According to Itar-Tass, the compromise between Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom and Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) on Russian gas price is estimated at $75 billion, citing the Deputy Head of the National Energy Security Fund Alexei Grivach. The differences on the price for 38 and 60 billion cubic meters supplies a year were $1.5 billion and $2.5 billion, he added, so the subject of the negotiations is quite a significant one.

Gazprom expected a base price of $400 for 1,000 cubic meters, an expert of the Eurasian Development Research Center of the Chinese State Council said in April, whereas the CNPC’s proposal was $350-360 for 1,000 cubic meters.

RIA has more details:

According to Miller, only at 4 am local time it became clear “that all the principal issues have been solved.”

Who Needs The United States? Not Russia And China 220514brics
Image: BRICS Leaders (Wiki Commons).
Russia and China have just signed what is being called “the gas deal of the century”, and the two countries are discussing moving away from the U.S. dollar and using their own currencies to trade with one another.  This has huge implications for the future of the U.S. economy, but the mainstream media in the United States is being strangely quiet about all of this.

For example, I searched CNN’s website to see if I could find something about this gas deal between Russia and China and I did not find anything.  But I did find links to “top stories” entitled “Celebs who went faux red” and “Adorable kid tugs on Obama’s ear“.  Is it any wonder why the mainstream media is dying?  If a particular story does not fit their agenda, they will simply ignore it.  But the truth is that this new agreement between Russia and China is huge.  It could end up fundamentally changing the global financial system, and not in a way that would be beneficial for the United States.

Russia and China had been negotiating this natural gas deal for ten years, and now it is finally done.  Russia is the largest exporter of natural gas on the entire planet, and China is poised to become the world’s largest economy in just a few years.  This new $400 billion agreement means that these two superpowers could potentially enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship for the next 30 years

Russian Activists to Conduct Independent Studies Proving GMOs Could be Genetic Weapon

gmo russian weapon 263x164 Russian Activists to Conduct Independent Studies Proving GMOs Could be Genetic WeaponA draft bill is on the table in Russia that would criminalize GMO production and distribution. Now, anti-GMO activists there are looking to create a team of ‘long-overdue’ independent and international researchers that can finally prove unequivocally that GMOs are poison tools created by Monsanto and the corporate, biotech machine.

When you are going to equivocate GMO production with terrorism, a label it truly deserves since it kills people through reproductive organ failure and the drastic reorganization of gut flora, immunity, and even DNA – essentially as a bio-weapon – then you might want to have some hard, solid evidence that can counteract the propaganda which has been circulated by Monsanto’s shills.
According to Elena Sharoykina, director of the Genetic Safety Public Association (GSPA), a 10-year-old NGO in Moscow, it isn’t the first time the term ‘terrorism’ was used to describe what GMOs have done to our people and ecosystems, including all the pollinators, which allow us an ample food supply.

Sharoykina pointed out in an interview with Russia Today that a NATO Committee on the Challenges to Modern Society which met in the Belgian city, Liege, in 2004 said that GMO could be used as a genetic weapon.
If serious international experts on security who have close ties with the scientific community say this is possible then there’s no smoke without fire,” Sharoykina said.

What Drives The West's Self-Destructive Belligerence?

Tony Cartalucci

May 21, 2014
"Europe whole and free" and the "reconstruction and enlargement" of Europe. That is how the corporate-funded Atlantic Council - NATO's defacto public relations front and think tank - is describing the current agenda of the "transatlantic community" during their celebration of the "25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the 15th anniversary of NATO's first post-Cold War enlargement, and the 10th anniversary of the "big bang" enlargements of both the European Union and NATO."

Readers might notice that the EU and NATO's "big bang" enlargements occurred long after the Cold War ended - in other words, long after NATO's alleged reason for existing expired. Yet it not only continued to exist, it in fact expanded and continues to expand to this very day. Its presence in Ukraine and Georgia via proxy regimes installed through now admitted US-backed subversion is reminiscent to Nazi Germany's aggressive pre-war expansion. Russia then, as it does now, realized that with Nazi Germany nearing its borders, buffers against what was an existential threat were necessary.
Buffers Vs. Empire Building
While Russian leader Joseph Stalin was a brute, and his seizure of Polish territory undoubtedly an act of aggression, it was one of several factors that helped slow the Germans down long enough for the Soviets to turn the tide and eventually win the war.
